What a wild life means for me these days....
Earlier this week, I started my day at 3am, a full hour earlier than normal, thanks to an owl perched just outside my bedroom window and three dogs trying to get to it. My bed is right under the window which means the experience included a near trampling.
Try going back to sleep after that! It was one of those mornings when I would have paid any price to be able to have someone else deal with it. The pro’s and con’s of living alone are weighted when there is no one to elbow and ask to deal with it!
This morning, the morning that I am packing up and leaving Ellie for a road trip, we had more excitement…..
Thankfully I had only let Ellie out in the large area, leaving the other 2 to use the dog door and smaller area.
As soon as she was out I heard two quick noises, one from her and by the time I got out there a second one from some other animal. I got to the property line just in time to see her take down a large rabbit.
Not exactly the way I wanted to start my day!
After the issue with the raccoons a couple weeks ago which seems to have thankfully resolved itself, I was hoping for some quiet days.
As we hit the road today I can only hope that Ellie doesn’t repeat her snake hunting antics she displayed during our Virginia road trip. Although after her recent scoreboard of a rabbit and cornering a raccoon, I am not optimistic.
